Šelmberk – the castle ruin

Close to the town of Mlada Vozice, in the very north of the region of Tabor a mighty cylinder tower –the only preserved part of a medieval castle - sticks out from deep forests. The castle guarded the path which connected areas around the River Luznice with areas around the River Vltava since the 14th century. The ruins were repaired as early as at the end of the 18th century and the tower served as a viewing tower. And it has been used for the same purpose till today.
